Current Volunteer Needs and Opportunities

Party 4 Play committee

Party 4 Play is our annual adults-only auction and gala. Many volunteers are needed to make this event a success. If you have good organizational skills or strong community connections, we want your help!

Fundraising

Guided by the PTO’s Fundraising VP. You can help with existing drives or bring your own ideas. Learn more about fundraising opportunities.

Special events

Planning or helping to run the PTO’s family-oriented events. You can give one hour or be in charge of a whole event—the sky’s the limit. Check out our calendar to learn about upcoming events to see how you can lend a hand.

Classroom volunteering

Volunteer with children in their classrooms. Activities will be guided by the needs of individual teachers. Come in as much or as little as you can.

After-school tutoring

Work with struggling students for about an hour after school. A commitment of once per week or more is needed.

Morning bus supervision

Help children safely move from their morning buses to the building or playground. Help is needed each morning from about 7:50-8:15. Coming at least once a week is ideal.

Office assistance

Help is needed mainly in the mornings just after school starts to write late slips for students. Come every day or once a month--any help is gratefully accepted. Volunteers will receive training.

Recess/Lunch

Be an extra set of eyes and ears for the playground, an extra set of hands to help at lunch. Coming in once or more each week is ideal, but any time you can give will be gratefully accepted.

Babysitting Cooperative

Participate in a co-op to babysit younger siblings at Colfax so their parents (including you) can volunteer.

Breakfast

Lend a hand at Colfax’s daily free breakfast and build relationships with students. A commitment of at least once a week is needed.

Communications

The PTO publishes a monthly newsletter, a school directory, and a website, and oversees email and Facebook communications. Our communications team would welcome help with any of these efforts.

School tours

Be on call to show our school to prospective families. Volunteers will receive training.

Volunteer Clearances

There are so many volunteer needs at Colfax, but volunteers must have state criminal and child abuse clearances. Clearances are good for five years from the date of on the clearance. If you are not sure about your clearance date, check with the PTO's Volunteer Coordinator.

Quick start guide to obtaining clearances:
